Simon has more than 30 years’ experience as a lawyer, advising many of the world’s largest financial services organisations, construction and property entities on on development, real estate and project finance.
Recognised as a leader in his field, Simon played an active role in shaping industry practice, serving on the committee responsible for establishing lending protocols, procedures and documentation for the financial services market, and has regularly chaired industry conferences and debates on key issues affecting finance and development.
Simon’s extensive experience at the interface between the public and private sectors has seen him advise on major development and regeneration projects, including some of the earliest public-private initiatives. Following the global financial crisis, he led industry consultation to adjust the market protocol in order to deliver increased market liquidity for shared ownership social housing. He also worked on the creation of the UK’s first local housing company combining public sector land and private sector money to provide the infrastructure needed to unlock previously unusable land to deliver major housing development.
